Kelly Archer has been building various types of vessels
for the past 35 years, initially as a patner in Salthouse
Brothers at Greenhithe. In 1995 Kelly Archer Boatbuilders
relocated to new purpose built 15,000ft2 facilities in
Albany, Auckland.
The company has developed a niche market whereby an Owner
brings forth their concept and design. Together with Kelly
and his team the interior, deck layout and systems are
designed ensuring that all objectives are met.
A unique concept offered by Kelly Archer Boatbuilders
Ltd is that it caters for an Owner who wants a direct
relationship with the builder. The relationship is further
enhanced by focusing on completing only one boat at a
time, and by providing an open cost method allowing the
Owner access to all project costs.
A measure of Kelly Archer Boatbuilders Ltd success, yachts
that have been completed under this arrangement are Beowulf,
80ft (24.4m) launched in 1996, and Condor, 80ft (24.2m)
launched in 1998, both designed by Dashew Offshore Design.
Maxsamba, 78ft sloop designed by Van de Stadt launched
in 2000, Leonore, 80ft (24.4m) launched 2002 and designed
by Chuck Paine Design
Currently under construction is the 83 ft aluminium motor
yacht designed by Dashew Offshore Design, and the 72 ft
(22m) Kelly Archer Adventure Series.
A quote from a repeat customer is further testament to
this arrangement:
"I have worked with Boatbuilders all over the world
and Kelly Archer is simply the best. For the past 25 years
Kelly has efficiently executed our designs to consistently
high standards. When a client asks us where to go, or
when we are thinking about a boat for ourselves Kelly
is the first person we call".
